There Are Many Reasons A Dog Needs Foster Care.
- Our rescue group doesn’t have a physical shelter and depends on foster homes to care for dogs until suitable homes are found.
- A puppy is too young to be adopted and needs a safe place to stay until he or she is old enough to go to a forever home.
- A dog is recovering from surgery, illness or injury and needs a safe place to recuperate.
- A dog is showing signs of stress such as pacing or hiding in the shelter.
- A dog has not lived in a home before or has not had much contact with people and needs to be socialized.
- The shelter is running out of room for adoptable dogs.
The Foster Process
Passion for Pets Rescue (PPR) is committed to finding the best "doggie" fit for you to foster. Our foster process is similar to our adoption process; which includes the completion of an application form, phone interview, veterinary and personal reference check, home visit. Currently, our foster homes are in Maine only.
When you foster, you supply a loving home environment and we take care of the veterinary bills and medicine. If you are planning to go on vacation, we ask that you notify us, well in advance, so we have enough time to arrange for another foster while you're out of town. We only ask that dog fosters bring their dog to adoption events once or twice a month.
