PO Box 581 Brunswick, ME 04011 (207) 798-1262
What are the fees, and how do I pay?
Our adoption fee is $450 per dog. This fee covers transport to Maine, shelter pull fees, spay/neuter costs, age appropriate vaccines, heartworm, flea & tick preventatives, as well as food while under the care of PPR. All fees are paid through our PayPal account. If you are unable to pay online please contact us at info@pprorg.com
What if I don't have a PayPal account? Not to worry, you can continue the transaction as a PayPal 'guest' and use either your debit or credit card or Venmo @PPROrg.
What happens after I submit an application?
The application will be received and reviewed by the Adoption Coordinator. A member of the Placement team will call your references and contact you for a home or virtual visit.
What is the Home Visit?
PPR will do a home visit to check the home environment and ensure everything is right for the pet. We will work around your schedule. Most of our home visits are currently conducted virtually.
How many people do I have to talk to before I get a dog?
We TRY our best to minimize but understand it does take a team to rescue, so expect an adoption application screening call, possibly a second call from the adoption team if there are further questions or the dog has requirements we want to see if you have, and then a call or email from the team mobilizing the dog from its foster to you.
What if I want to meet more than one dog?
Indicate that on your application and the Foster coordinator will do their best to accommodate your request and make the necessary arrangements. We do not adopt siblings out together. Please note that a 'meet and greet' will not be arranged until an applicant has been approved.
How long does the adoption process take?
We move the process as quickly as we can. Whenever possible we try within seven days of receiving an application to have a decision. In the event there are multiple applicants for the same pet, it will take a little longer. Please reach out to adopt@pprorg.com if you do not hear from us.
What happens if there are multiple applicants for the same pet?
The adoption coordinator will screen on a first-come, first-serve basis but if you are second or even fifth, it is always possible the fifth applicant could be the best fit for the dog.
Now that I am approved what happens?
You will be asked to make a $25 non-refundable deposit on the dog you are interested in (transferable to another dog). The team will put you in touch with your dog's foster so that you may schedule a meet and greet. This will happen as quickly as we can coordinate with your schedule and the foster's availability and after the two- or five-day quarantine period. Your adoption fee balance must be paid prior to bringing the dog home.
What if I have questions?
You can ALWAYS email info@pprorg.com.
What if I get home, and it is not a good match?
In the rare event that is not successful please contact the Rescue immediately, we will take the pet back so another family can make it a part of their loving home.
What if I determine at any point I can't take care of my pet?
Please contact us to discuss.Owner Surrender Form
How do I get the animal's medical records? Once full payment has been received a member of the team will send along a digital copy of the medical records, your application which serves as your contract, and some helpful resources.
